Snapshot 4. Kayla Frea.

Snapshot 4
Click. The lights are out. The fog clouds the stage. The drum starts to beat. The guitar starts to hum. The crowd erupts in screams. Your body floods with excitement. Looking around, hands up, faces sculpted into perfect smiles, 10-10,000 of your closest friends listening to the first notes of the opening song.
Music is a way that artists can share their thoughts with the world. Every song I listen to has a different memory associated with it and every time the song comes on, you relive the memory. I see music as an auditory movie. Every lyric, cord, and beat are in the way to describe a scene.
There is not one particular artist I can write about. My character, my creativity, my life does not center on an artist. If I wanted to talk about my family we are connected though our love of the song Human, by Christina Perri because my brother has a beautifully, emotional interpretation of the song, “But I’m only human/ And I bleed when I fall down/ I’m only human”, he made this up on one of our trips to Florida, to make the boring car ride a little more fun. My old friends and my middle school days were connected by the Jonas Brothers. During high school connecting through Panic! At The Disco with my sister, and listening to the album every morning into school. My high school and barn friends all connected though our love of One Direction. Connecting with hometown artists, by going to little concerts in coffee shops. There is not one artist that means more to me than any of the artists I listen too. Every song I listen too has a different meaning to me and none of them rank higher than the other.
Artists doing what they love to do, performing songs for their fans is one of things I love seeing. Going to concerts and seeing everyone around me living every moment and having fun. Seeing drunk old ladies driving fake steering wheels at a Rascal Flatts concert, everyone in the stands be in sync with the same lyrics and singing for the artist. This is what music means to me. Everyone connected as a whole.
The album artwork for Human. The song we listened to so many times on our tip to see the dance my brother created.

This is the Panic! at the Disco album cover that we listened to so many times.

  1. I really enjoyed how you started out your blog post by describing how it feels to be at a concert. " Click. The lights are out. The fog clouds the stage. The drum starts to beat. The guitar starts to hum. The crowd erupts in screams. Your body floods with excitement. Looking around, hands up, faces sculpted into perfect smiles, 10-10,000 of your closest friends listening to the first notes of the opening song." This really creates an image in your mind of what it is like to be at a concert.

  2. I loved reading your post and happy to see someone else has a lot of passion for music. One of my favorite quotes is "Every song I listen to has a different memory associated with it and every time the song comes on, you relive the memory". I loved this a lot and it is so true that it is different every time. Panic! at the Disco is one of my favorite bands as well, good choice! I think in some ways everyone can find a way that music expresses themselves.
